Transparency is a cornerstone of The Scholar’s approach. We’ve compiled the most frequent inquiries from our feline families below to help you feel completely confident in your boutique experience.
If your specific question isn't covered, please reach out to Rita by clicking the button below. We welcome every inquiry.
What does single family only mean?
It means that for the duration of your booking, your cat (or cats) are the only guests in the entire boutique. We never board cats from different households simultaneously, ensuring a zero-stress environment free from unfamiliar scents or sounds. The two resident Ragdoll cats Hansel and Derek are homed in a separate part of the house, and there is never any interaction with the guest cat/s.
Can I visit the suite before booking?
To maintain the Sanctuary environment and privacy for our current guests, we do not offer in-person tours. However, our website features high-resolution photos, videos and a detailed breakdown of the suite's amenities to give you total confidence in the space.
Do you have other pets on the premises?
Yes, there are two resident Ragdoll cats Derek and Hansel. However, they are kept in a completely separate wing of the home with no shared air-flow or physical access to the guest suite. Your feline family will enjoy total privacy and a scent-neutral environment.
What food do you provide?
We stock the high quality Trilogy brand of dry cat food. Food bowls are topped up per manufacturers guidelines twice per day. However, to avoid digestive and other upsets, we highly recommend bringing a stock of your cat's usual food from home for their stay. We are happy to follow your food preparation instructions together with food and/or treats that you provide. The suite includes a kitchenette with cupboards and a small fridge/freezer for your exclusive use to store fresh pet food. If additional fresh food is required to be purchased (ie, for a longer stay), this can be arranged - just let me know!

Do you take cats with medical needs?
I am experienced in administering basic oral and topical medications. Please provide full details in your inquiry form so we can ensure I am able to meet your cat's specific health requirements.
How do I access the Guest Cam?
When you check-in you will receive a secure, private link to our secure, private web app. The camera is active daily from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, allowing you to check in during their most active afternoon hours while respecting our "Quiet Zone" protocols overnight.
How do the "Scholar’s Reports" work?
Every day, a digital update will be posted to our private web app which is for the exclusive use of the current guest family. This includes a high-resolution photo of your cat, along with a time-stamped log of their behaviour, activities and appetite.
What should I pack for my cat's Comfort Kit?
To ensure your cat feels immediately at home, we recommend packing a small Comfort Kit including:
The Scent of Home: A small blanket or an unwashed T-shirt that carries your scent. This provides an immediate sense of security in their new sanctuary.
Toilet Routine: We want to help our guests maintain their familiar toileting routine. It helps if you can provide a sandwich-bag sized amount of litter from home that we can add to their litter box at the Boutique, to make it easier for them to smell-understand where to "go".
Preferred Nutrition: While we provide premium dry food meals, bringing their usual food prevents digestive upset and maintains their established routine.
Favorite Bedding/Toys: A few familiar items to encourage play and exploration.
Secure Carrier: For safe transit to and from the boutique. We will securely store your carrier until it is time for your pet to go home.
To preserve the serene, low-turnover atmosphere of our sanctuary and accommodate our meticulous sanitisation protocols between guests, a minimum 3-night stay applies to all reservations.
We are pleased to offer a 10% discount for extended residencies exceeding 30 consecutive nights. Please note that long-term discounts apply strictly to standard booking periods and are unavailable for dates falling within our designated Peak Holiday Periods.
